The Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians had a great year at the 32nd Annual Hiwassee River Raft Race! This year fourteen rafts had nearly perfect weather for the annual run down the Hiwassee River on their homemade floats. The Oak Ridge service unit (SU) collected over 1,000 pounds of plastic caps during the 2018 membership year. Once the caps were all collected, the SU members drove to Evansville, Indiana to have the caps melted down into benches.
