Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians North Area would like to recognize one of our amazing volunteers!
Cassie came to GSCSA with an open heart and willingness to volunteer in the fall of 2017. She helped start a new troop in an elementary school that did not have a troop. They now have 9 girls and counting; and meet every Wednesday after school so that girls can come straight from classes to Girl Scouts!
The new troop jitters did not happen with this group! They have earned all legacy badges for Daisy and Brownie level. The girls have participated in a self-defense class and have been involved with the Madison House Nursing Home and Kingsport Animal Shelter.
The troop has also had several visitors including Kingsport Life Saving Crew for CPR training, and Charlie Franklin for basic car maintenance lessons.
Cassie maintains a very active Facebook group for the troop that is full of photos and information to keep all families are involved and up-to-date. She is constantly promoting GSCSA activities and sharing all kinds of girl-positive ideas.
Cassie has gone above and beyond for a first-year troop administrator. Her girls have an amazing future ahead with Cassie as their leader!
