GSCSA Gold Award Girl Scout Kestrel was recently honored on the national Girl Scouts blog and in Blount County’s The Daily Times for her Gold Award Project.
Kestrel grew up with a love of nature, having visited 49 states and many of their national parks. For her Gold Award, Kestrel centered her project on the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and documenting oral histories of park volunteers who served 10,000 hours or more. These stories and interviews are now part of the National Park Service Archives in Gatlinburg, TN.
You can read more about Kestrel and her work in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the Girl Scouts blog and in The Daily Times.
We are proud to have Kestrel as part of the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians!
